M25 Holmesdale Tunnel

Unistrut supplied channel and accessories to the £75 million refurbishment of the Holmesdale tunnel to improve the safe entry and exit from junction 25 of the M25 and reduce daily traffic congestion. The Mechanical and Electrical equipment installed at the time of its 1984 construction was beyond economic repair and the scheme will update with new equipment. The refurbishment works includes lighting, ventilation equipment, internal cladding, control systems, improved drainage and raised walkway removal. The eastbound bore has been widened by one lane through the junction and tunnel.

Phase two involved Unistrut supplying stainless steel channel for use in supporting services concealed by the cladding. The cladding is also supported on the same channel framework.

Unistruts stainless steel 316 grade channels were selected to due to their high quality and their longevity of live expectancy, as the project demanded a 25 year life span in a confined corrosive environment.
